Grading is where a project gets its shape: the elevations, the slope that moves water away from the building, and the compacted base that keeps a slab or a wall from settling. M&M Concrete grades for our own concrete work and as a standalone service for builders, landscapers and property owners across the Inland Empire.
We run Kubota and Bobcat track loaders with laser grade control, compact with a plate or a roller depending on the material, and haul spoils in our own trucks. Rough grading, finish grading, lot leveling and drainage correction are all in-house.

Pad prep for concrete and construction
A slab is only as good as what is under it. We strip soft or organic soil, bring the pad to grade with the laser, and compact the subgrade and the base rock so the concrete does not crack from settlement. For ADU pads and additions we over-excavate and recompact when the soils report calls for it.
Drainage that goes away from the house
A yard that drains toward the foundation is the most common problem we get called about. We regrade to a positive slope away from the structure, cut swales where water needs a path, and tie into area drains or a dry well when the lot has nowhere to send it.

Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. M&M Concrete Inc. holds a California C-8 concrete contractor license, CSLB #1141877, and is registered with the DIR (#2000016629) for prevailing-wage public work. We carry $1M per occurrence and $2M aggregate general liability plus a $2M umbrella, and we can add your project as additional insured before we start. You can check the license yourself on the CSLB website.
What is the difference between rough grading and finish grading?
Rough grading moves the bulk of the dirt to get the site close to the planned elevations, usually within a couple of inches. Finish grading brings the surface to the exact grade the concrete, pavers, turf or building pad needs, typically within a quarter inch with the laser, and compacts it.
Can you fix a yard that drains toward the house?
Yes. We regrade the yard to slope away from the foundation, usually a minimum of 2 percent for the first several feet, add a swale or area drains where the water needs a path out, and compact the fill so it does not settle back. Most residential drainage fixes are one to two days.
Do you compact the base, and can you provide compaction testing?
We compact every pad and every lift of backfill. When the engineer or the city requires compaction testing, we coordinate with your geotechnical lab and schedule our lifts around their tests. We can recommend a lab if you do not have one.
How much does grading cost in the Inland Empire?
Small residential grading, a backyard pad or a drainage fix, is usually priced by the day with a machine and operator. Larger lots and commercial pads are priced by the square foot or the cubic yard moved, plus import or export of dirt if the cut and fill do not balance. We walk the site and quote in writing.
Do I need a permit for grading?
Often yes. Most Inland Empire cities require a grading permit once you move more than a set number of cubic yards, cut or fill past a certain depth, or change how water drains off the property. Smoothing a small backyard pad usually does not trigger one. We know where each city draws the line and will tell you upfront which side of it your job falls on.
